Origami Stop Motion
This was a personal project combining two things I love — stop motion and making things by hand. I set out to create a hummingbird and a butterfly, both new origami folds for me, and turn them into simple animations.
Once I’d mastered the folds, I built a small makeshift studio and photographed each stage, even capturing “mid-motion” shots when flipping the paper to keep the movement fluid.
I then edited and masked each photo in Photoshop before sequencing them together on a bright background to make the forms pop.
It was a fun way to explore stop motion in a more tactile way, and I’d love to continue building a small series of origami animations over time.

I've experimented with adding more to the stop animation by creating a paper scene around the animals. I wanted to bring it to life just that little
bit more.
